Abstract     Several clinical neurophysiological examinations (spontaneous EEG, Q-EEG, brain mapping, flash VEPs, BAEPs, visual ERP) and 6 different psychometric tests (computerised test as Choice 2 reaction time, Key tapping test, and 4 nonverbal subtests Reitan NCT A and B, Digit symbol and block design) were studied in Thirteen non-alcoholic cirrhotic without clinically detectable neurological, psychiatric or sensorial abnormalities. The homogeneity of the patients sample and the results obtained from the different PT and CN examinations employed induce us to stress the importance of this explorations as indicators in detecting the SE. The majority of the examinations coincided in 39% of the sample (range 15,53). Our results argue in favor of brain mapping, F-VER, V-ERP as CN techniques to be use for detecting SE patients. They provide quantifiable data that will allow comparations between the same subjects but at different times and with other patients. Wihtin the psychometric test the most reliable were Choice 2 reaction time, Key tapping and Reitan NCT-B and digit symbol.
