Abstract     In September and October 1995, we performed a clinical study of the new anthelmintic L-Ripercol pour-on, containing levamisole as the active anthelmintic, in the treatment of young cattle naturally infected/invaded by gastrointestinal helminths. High efficacy of L-Ripercol pour-on against trichostrogylids, including Nematodirus spp. and the whipworms Trichuris spp., found in the digestive tract of naturally infected animals, was proven. Individual eggs detected during control examinations of treated animals may be explained with data in literature, stating that levamisole is inffective against dormant larvae in the mucosa of the abomasum and small intestines. A comparison of efficacy with regard to the method of administration was made with levamisole ijection. A remarkable advantage of the pour-on administration over the parenteral administration was established. No signs indicating intoxicaton or degradation of the physiological state could be established during clinical examinations of the animals during the treatment, or after it.
