Abstract     Support of employees is central to construction and enforcement of an effective alcohol policy at the workplace. Policy makers must recognize that each company is different and that no one policy will be effective for all companies. Lineal approach that is proceeding in one direction, i.e., from information (about harmful consequenes of alcohol use) through assessment (use of questionnaires, data files) to prescribed procedures (disciplinary measures, education, prevention) often provokes overt or covert resistance of employees. This resistance is mainly due to the process itself and does not depend on quality or quantity of each phase of the same process. Systemic model of construction and enforcement of alcohol policy is based on circularity of each phase. Each phase of this model is considered as a system itself and at the same time as the part of larger system. The process works in all possible directions and is highly respective for all feed-back reactions. Information is distributed and shared between different work groups like headquarters, managers, workers, administratiors. Assessment is not based on individual screening, but done through evaluation of beliefs and statements of diffrent work groups. The policy ensures that employees are aware of the problems and actively participate in construction of suggested measures. An example og systemic construction of alcohol policy at theworkplace will be presented and put into discussion.
