Abstract     One of every two Europeans will be bitten by an animal or by another person at some point. Most common bites are inflicted by dogs, cats and humans. The bacteria involved in infectionof bife wounds include pasteurella multocida, Stahylococcus aureus, alpha-hemolytic streptococci, Capnocytophaga canimorsus, and other member of the oral flora. Bites inflicted by humans are often more serious than those inflicted by animals. Infections from human bites are associated with alpha-hemolytic streptococci, Staphylococcus aureus, Eikenella orrodens, haemophilus species and anaerobic bacteria. The principles of management of bife wounds are discussed.

Pogosti povzročitelji okužbe ran po ugrizih so Pasteurella multocida, Staphylococcus aureus, alpha-hemolitični streptokoki. Capnocytophaga canimorsus in druge bakterije ustne flore. Človeški ugrizi so praviloma resnejši kot živalski. Okužbe človeških ugrizov pogosto povzročajo alpha-hemolitični streptokoki, Staphylococcus aureus, Eikenella corrodens, Haemophilus species in anaerobne bakterije. Opisani so principi ukrepanja pri ugriznih ranah.
