Abstract     A knowledge-based computer vision system makes use of knowledge about the complex objects to be recognized typically in the form of an object model which describes the object in terms of its constituent components. Having a decomposition of the object and the relationships between the components the knowledge representation scheme based on Petry net theory, for symbolic description of scene objects, is used in this paper. We propose a fuzzy logic approach to the recognition of spatial relationships between object's components such that geometrical properties, of the components are taken into occount. As spatial relationships the size of an overlapping area, an angle and directions along which the object components are located, are selected. The method proposed is illustrated by several experimental examples.
