Abstract		Surgical procedure for carcinoma of urinary bladder is one of the biggest and most demanding urological operations. It can cause massive bleeding and triggers violent stress response in patients. It there are any abnormalities, found during preoperative assessment of the patient, they have to be corrected to enable optimal possible condition of the patient before the elective surgery. Optimal condition of the patient and optimal choise of anesthesia will minimize the probability of perioperative complications. Authors present basis programme of preoperative clinical assessment and laboratory tests, outline the importance of prevention of deep vein thrombosis and suggest preoperative collection of blood for autotransfusion.
