Abstract		Acute pain after cystectomy triggers profound stress response with harmful influence on various vital organ systems. Continous epidural analgesia treats pain effectively and blunts surgical stress, which enables early mobilisation of patients and improves surgical outcome. Such acute pain service is organised and led by anesthesiologists, but provided by surgeons and nursing staff at the department. Pain measurement and recording is the corne stone of the treatment of acute pain.
