Abstract     The survival of patients with advanced, recurrent and metastatic urinary bladder tumor is very poor. Local growth can cause complications. Urinary bladder cancer is a solid tumor with hypoxic areas, which are not suitable for conventional systemic chemotherapy. Hypoxic environment can be useful for the treatment of cancer in special conditions. Conditions for successful treatment are long exposure to cytotoxic drug at high concentrations and low or obsent blood outflow to prevent undesirable systemic toxic side effects. This can be achieved by intraarterial regional chemotherapy in hypoxic tissue (Aigner's technique). According to the author' experience tumor reduction and clinical response are with the presented technique surprisingly good and it is justified for paliative treatment.
