Abstract		Double sandwich antigen ELISA test for faster, easier and more accurate detection of EBHS virus in livers of hares than with conventional haemagglutination method has been developed. The new ELISA correctly recognised all EBHS haemagglutination-positive specimens among 37 livers in exame and determined as positive also some haemagglutination-negative samples, demonstrating higher sensitivity. The exactness of the results was checked up with commercial VHD (Viral Hamorrhagic Disease of rabbits) ELISA, which is, due to cross-reactivity and antigen conformity between VHD and EBHS virus, capable to detect EBHS virus in hare liver as well. Compared to haemmaglutination method, which requires time-consuming and demanding tiration of the reagents and 12 hours to be concluded, is the new ELISA more sensitive, rapid and simple method with objective (spectrophotmetrically measured) and repeatable results.
