Abstract     In present study we tried to establish the relation between isolation of Ureaplasma urealyticum and the presence of pecific antibody in patients whit nonspecific uretritis. We tested swabs of urethra and cervix in women, swabs of urethra in men and serums of 62 patients. For isolation of bacteria we used the reagents "Mycoscreen" (International Mycrobio, France). For detection of specific antibody we used metabolic inhibiton test "Serology" (International Mycrobio, France). We isolated Ureaplasma urealyticum from swabs of urethra and cervix in 56 (90.3%) patients. In serums of 36 (58%) patients we detected specific antibody (titer > 1:32). In 6 (9.79%) patients isolation was negative and positive specific antibody. In 20 (32.3%) patients the isolation was positive and specific antibody was negative (titer < 1:16). Due to slow growth of this bacteria (2-10 days) and because comensal is in urogenital tract, isolation is not reliable evidence of infection. Detection of specific antibody is a useful method for diagnostic of infection with Ureaplasma urealyticum. For realisation of metabolic inhibiton test for determination of specific antibodies, 24 hours is needed.
