Abstract     Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is nowadays treatment of choice for many haematological diseases and also for some other congenital or acquired, mostly malignant diseases. HSCT programme in Slovenia started in 1989 and altogether 70, mostly allogeneic transplants have been performed so far. Most of allogeneic HSCT were performed for patients with acute leukemias (AL) - 26 patients and chronic granulocytic leukaemia (CGL) - 15 patients. Results are comparable to the published data - 80% estimated event free survival for CGL and about 50% estimated event free survival for AL.
