Abstract     An objective of this research was to determine new hypotheses concerning hip arthroplasty after an acute medial femoral neck fracture. The Harris hip score was estimated for 111 patients treated with bipolar or total hip endoprostheses. The average follow-up time was 3.5 years, range 1.5-8.5 years. The obtained data were analyzed by using the Retis system for induction of regression trees. Following are some new hypotheses that were generated by the system Retis: the neurological diseases combined with pulmonary diseases and cardiovascular diseases could have major impact on the long-term clinical outcome after hip arthroplasty. The shorte the period from the injury until the opeation the better the long-term outcome of thehip arthroplasty. it was found that younger patients with bipolar hip endoprosthesis could have better long-term clinical outcome then elderly patients with the same type of endoprosthesis.
