Abstract     We investigated children and adolescent hypersensitivity idfferences for 16 common inhalant allergens in four Slovenian areas. 446 children and adolescents with atopic disease and at least one allergen hypersensitivity were included in the study. Specific IgE levels were determined by the matrix microautomatic method. Boys (total 277 (62,1%)) had significantly higher levels of specific IgE than girsl for bermuda grass (Cynodon dactylon) and five weeds: mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris), pellitory of the wall (Parietaria officinalis), plantain (Plantago lanceolata), giant and short raqweed (Ambrosia trifida and A. artemisiifolia). Between areas there were statistically significant hypersensitivity differences for four allergens. In the Gorica area there was a significantly higher hypersensitivity to mould Alternaria, significantly lower to mites Dermatophagoides farinae and D. pteronyssinus. In the Tolmin area there was a significantly higher hypersensitivity to D. farinae and in the Ljubljana area significantly higher to D. pteronyssinus and bermuda grass. Boys from the Gorica area are significantly more sensitive than girls for weeds (mugwort, plantain, g.and s.ragweed), and timothy grass (Phleum pratense). These were significant differences between areas regarding the type of allergic disease - astma and conjuctivitis. In the Tolmin area the percentage of asthmatic patients is significantly higher, in Koper and Ljubljana significantly lower. In the Ljubljana area we found a significantly higher percentage of patients with conjunctivitis. Girls had a significantly higher incidence of atopic dermatitis than boys. Results of our study indicate that sex and place of residence may both considerably influence the incidence and type of atopic disease in children.
Summary     Ugotavljali smo razlike v preobčutljivosti za 16 inhalacijskih alergenov pri otrocih in mladostnikih štirih slovenskih področij (goriško, tolminsko, ljubljansko, koprsko) glede na spol in alergijske bolezni.
