Abstract     We have tried to improve the active use of an upper limb prosthesis by fitting the children with congenital upper limb deficiency with an active kind of prosthesis as soon as possible and oncluding an occupational therapist in the rehabilitation programme. For all people with congenital upper limb deficiency we fill in a questionnaire about prosthetic use. The use of electric prosthesis has been evaluated by means of UNB test (University of New Brunswick). We found out that the children who participated in the new rehabilitation programme all used electric prosthesis, whereas none of the previous group even wanted to try one. They used it actively and spontaneously at most activities appropriate for their age. We many believe that this children will use the active prosthesis also in the future, or at least will have an opportunity to base their choice on their own experience.
