Abstract     An assessment of quality of epileptological service for severely mentally retarded residents living in the residential institution Dofka BostjanCiC, Ig near Ljubljana was attained. For the last eight years this centre has the advantage of a consultant neuropaediatrician visiting the institution weekly. The study is comparing the occurence of serial attacks, epileptic status, seizure frequency and seizure duration, seizure patern, antiepileptic drugs and side effects. The comparison revealed quite an improved level of care for the most severe retarded patients with epilepsy. The work should be continued in parallel with some other aspects of improving quality of life in these people.
