Abstract     We evaluated both of the biggest and the most important bibliographic database in the biomedical field MEDLINE and EMBASE on the interner at different host services. The home page of the different databases were analysed by the following criterions: availability (free searching, registration required or paying only), producer, uptade time, covering period and number of records. All of the free MEDLINE were tested on the next questions: number of rearch statements, number of fields on record, use of logic operators, help, search limits, limitation of record number of displayng and printing. The possibilities of searching with explored thesauer terms, browsing the thesauer hierarchy, subject searching or use the keywords only were analysed too. At last in all free MEDLINE was retrieved the same simple search question.
