Abstract | World Wide Web (WWW) a user friendly and multimedia tool enables libraries to move from being mainly providers of information on demand to active dissemination of information., therefore, Central Medical Library (CMK) has created its home page to provide its users services information and available information resources in one place. After a year we decided to evaluate CMK web site regarding users' interest and quality of medical information resources. In a previous year the average monthly number of requests on the web site was 12.272, the most visited menus were WWW resources, followed by information resources, general information and services. In menu WWW resources the submenus databases and electronic journals were most often accessed. Since the quality of available Internet resources may have some consequences on health, their quality has been evaluated by by taking in consideration criteria of international associations. The majority is built by internationally recognised associations that ensure certain level of quality. As for their content, they generally include the combination of primary, secondary and terciary information. The update was quite regular. CMK web site evaluation confirmed that by its construction, achieved our purpose. It is necessary to take care of regular maintainance and updating. | |
