Abstract     Interest in sports participation has increased tremendously during recent decades. There is a great interest among people in general to improve their health and body composition. Sporting activities have, therefore, been described as beneficial for society as a whole as well as for the individual. Top-plevel competitive participation has, with increasing mass media attention, also become more common. Higher intensity has demanded more intense and longer duration training. The training has also become more specializied. Serious and specialized training starts at younger ages and continues until an older age, which means that there is an increased risk time for sutaining an injury and for overuse trauma.
