Abstract     The contests of the instructions (guidelines) on the referral of people to vocational rehabilitation treatment are far from ideal. The groups of persons requiring this type of assistance in view of returning to work are determined mostly trough diagnoses or ailments. The instructions do not take into account either the resulting disabilities or the actual physical and psychic functional state of the diseased person or her own attitude thereto. In the case of persons referred by the primary health care services the most frequent and crucial reason for referral is protracted si-leave of the insuree. The present research deals with the evaluation of a Disability Profile in 50 locomotor disabled persons within which we dedicated complex attention to their characteristics at the time of starting with vocational rehabilitation treatment. Selected for the purposes of the Disability profile were 33 characteristics to evaluate activities associated with five domains, namely: psychic functioning, communication, movement (locomotion), daily activities, situation environment factors. The sum of all evaluations of the Disability Profile was determined as Complex Functional State. Our selection proceeded entirely from the consequences of diseases as defined and classified by the present MKOPOv. The selection was assessed both by the doctor and the patient. We analysed both Disability Profiles as to the extent to which they differed and concurred, the connection of this evaluation with the general characteristics selected and the contribution of the evaluations of the Complex Functional State to the suggestion whether a person is still able to work or thether a disability retirement should be considered.(Abstract truncated at 2000 characters)
