Abstract | Background. The aim of the present work is the isolation and identification of micro-and submicrometer polyethylene and wear debris from periprosthetic tissue removed at revision surgeries. Conclusions. The release and accumulation of wear debris and consequent biologic reactions are emphasized as the main factors in the process of total hip replacement loosening. The morphology of isolated particles is compared to the morphology of the microdamage of polyethylene cups. | |
Summary | Izhodišča. V članku je opisana izolacija in identifikacija mikrometerskih in submikrometerskih polietilenskih in kovinskih delcev iz tkiva ob endoprotezah, ki jih odstranimo pri revizijskih operacijah. Zaključki. Sproščanje in kopičenje teh delcev ter posledične biološke reakcije v tkivu so poglavitni vzrok za nastanek omajanja umetnih kolčnih sklepov. Opisana je povezava morfologije izoliranih delcev s poškodbami na odstranjenih acetabulumskih čašicah in femoralnih kovinskih deblih. | |
