Abstract		Fecal testosterone concentrations in Lipizzan stallions at different age have been measured. The blood and fecal samples were seizured for the first time from 6 months old stallions and then every three months to age of 2 years. The testosterone extraction from feces was performed by methanol. The testosterone concentration were measured by commercial RIA kits. Low plasma and fecal testosterone concentrations were observed in Lipizzan stallions before puberty (at the age of 6 and 9 months). At the age of 6 months the mean plasma testosterone concentration was 0.019 ng/ml, fecal testosterone concentration was 4.25 ng/g; at the age of 9 months the mean plasma testosterone concentration in 12 months old stallions was 0.046 ng/ml and fecal value was 9.61 ng/g. At the age of 12 months plasma (P<0.05) and fecal (P<0.01) values were significantly higher yhan at the age of 6 and 9 months. Significantly higher testosterone concentration at the age of 12 months suggests that the onset of puberty appears about that time.
