Abstract     TB epidemic in Slovenia reached its peak at the turn of the century. The lung disease was diagnosed by sputum smears. Such practice was held up to the World War I. Pulmonary dispensaries in bigger urban centres used radioscopy from 1918. It was the first X-ray method introduced. Doctors used it to confirm the lung disease, investigate contacts and check collapsotherapy. The next X-ray method was mass radiophotography, introduced after the World War II. It was a screening method for undiagnosed cases. Radioscopy was slowly replaced by radiography and chest tomography. They were used more and more in diagnosing chronic pulmonary disorders and diseases. The last decade saw complete abolishment of mass radiophotography due to TB decline. X-ray investigations were also decreased and used chiefly in patients with chest symptoms.
