Abstract     In Slovenia the need for adequately educated staff working with radiographic diagnostic and therapeutic devices arose in 1951. The basic work of fhe radiological engineer (1 ) has to do with the patient and the technique. He is responsible for the technical execution of the diagnostic procedure or therapeutic intervention. He is expected to have a sense of teamwork, organizing of work and interteam cooperation. He has an active role in decreasing the exposure dose per inhabitant of Slovenia. The education is carried out by the University of Ljubljana, College of Health. The schooling takes five semesters and one diploma semester. The study program is constantly developed and improved.
