Abstract		Muscular diseases are not uncommon in childhood. In recent years the classification of these diseases has undergone several changes because of new findings in the fields of molecular genetics and biochemistry. Due to these results, the etiology of myotonias is better understood. The genes for many types of muscular dystrophies have been found and their products, proteins identified. Progress in understanding of these diseases has led to better therapies as well as prognoses for the patients.
Summary		Mišične bolezni niso redke v otroškem obdobju. Njihova razdelitev je v novejšem času doži- vela številne popravke zaradi hitrega razvoja molekularne genetike in biologije. Na osnovi novejših raziskav na tem področju je etiologija miotonij nekoliko jasnejša. Odkriti so geni in beljakovine, ki se kodirajo pri velikem številu mišičnih distrofij. Kljub temu napredku pa še niso odkrili odgovarja- jočega načina zdravljenja teh bolezni in s tem izboljšanja napovedi poteka bolezni pri bolnikih.
