Abstract		The author describes the correlation between the anatomical development of eye structures and visual pathway and functional development of vision. The author also critically dissusce the evaluation of determining visual acuity in different age groups and stresses the epidemiologjcal benefit for knowledge of different visual impairments. Short classification of poor vision is also present as well as it's reasons and treatment possibilities.
Summary		V prispevku je opisana je povezava anatomskega razvoja očesnih struktur in vidne poti s funkcionalnim razvojem vida. Poseben poudarek je namenjen kritičnemu vrednotenju določanja vidne ostrine v različnih starostih otroka in epidemiološkemu pomenu poznavanja vidnih okvar. Na kratko je razvrščena slabovidnost in vzroki zanjo ter možnosti njenega zdravljenja.
