Abstract     Background. Juvenile retinoschisis is a rare, X - linked vitreoretinal degeneration with a frequency of 1:10000. The characteristic feature is foveal schisis but about half of the patients also have peripheral schisis. We present 10 year old boy. He was treated because of poor vision on both eyes. He was eventually diagnosed as having retinoshisis when it was ascertained that there was a vitreus haemorrhage. His family history was positive. The diagnosis was confirmed with visual field, echography and electroretinography.
