Abstract     Purpose. To compare the effectiveness of filering procedure for glaucoma with application of 5-FU (5-flourouracil-antimentabolite) intraoperatively and filtering procedure for glaucoma without application of 5-FU. Methods. 25-twentyfive patients with the diagnosis of primary open glaucoma. One group of 14- fourteen patients were operated with filtering procedure with application of 5-FU (cum 5-FU group) by soaked sponge under scleral flap for 4-four minutes. Another group of 11-eleven patients were operated without application of 5-FU (sine 5-FU group). Results Success of the operation meant that the IOP was under 21 mmHg without any therapy. Afer 6 months IOP at sine 5-FU group was at 3(27,3%) pacients over 21 mmHg. After 6 months IOP at cum 5-FU group was at 1 (7,1 %) patients over 21 mm Hg. T test =0,449, that means there is no statistical difference between both group. Conclusion. 5-FU method under scleral flap has been shown not to increase statistical significantly the success rate of trabeculectomy in a prospective trial after 1 and 6 months postoperatively. What about additional application of 5-FU under and on the scleral flap and subconjuctival application.
