Abstract		The paper presents the development of the gastrointestinal tract and its functions from its earlies intrauterine life to the age of the baby up to 6 months. The digestive system of the newborn baby is adapted to be fed with its mothers milk. The author also deals with the effect of the mothers milk upon the maturing process of baby digestive functions.
