Abstract     Aim: Physiotherapeutic management of scars involving the periocular region and other parts of the face is presented. Methods: Physical methods used in the rehabilitation treatment of facial scarring include kinesitherapy, compression, micromassage, lymphatic drainage, pack application, cryotherapy, biostimulation and electrotherapy. This treatment is applied prior to and following the surgical procedure. Its success is evaluated by anatomical measurements and analysis of photographs. Results: Scarring about the eyes and eyelids is a common cause of improper eye function. In patients with anophthalmos or enophthalmos, it may preclude the use of an eye prosthesis. Physical therapy softens the scars, makes them less visible and prevents their adverse consequences. Conclusion: The results achieved in our patients over the past years confirm that a well-designed programme of physical therapy may lead to a substantial improvement of the patient's functional status and appearance.
