Abstract		The author discusses the peritoneal areas that due to their anatomical peculiarities have a predisposition for hernia formation. Congenital factors with a weakened connective fissue increase the likelihood of hernias. Thus, the anatomic structures of individual areas are taken into account. For didactic reasons, the hernia sites are considered as being in the anterior or posterior abdominal wall, or in the inguinal region.
