Abstract     a - interferon remains the mainstay for treatment of hepatitis B and C in the U.S. New agents for patients with HBV and HCV are showing good promise but how exactly they will be used remains uncertain. Alternatives for relapsers and non-responders include increased dose, increased duration, alternative inteferons and most promising combination therapy with ribavirin.
