Abstract		In the introductory chapter of this article, the notion "death anxiety" is defined regarding some other similar notions which in specialist literature often emerge as synonymous terms for "death anxiety". Furthermore, different standpoints concerning both generality and awareness of death anxiety are presented. Different approaches to how to measure the concept of death anxiety are described, whereby the most applicable self-evaluation scales its measurement are critically presented, as well as the influence of age, gender, and religiosity on the manifestation of death anxiety is analysed.
Summary		Prispevek v uvodnem delu opredeljuje pojem strahu pred smrtjo v odnosu do drugih sorodnih pojmov, ki se v strokovni literaturi velikokrat pojavljajo kot sinonimi za izraz strah pred smrtjo. V nadaljevanju so predstavljena različna stališča glede splošnosti in zavestnosti strahu pred smrtjo. Opisani so različni pristopi k merjenju koncepta strahu pred smrtjo, kritično predstavljene najpogosteje uporabljane samoocenjevalne lestvice za njegovo merjenje in analiziran vpliv strasti, spola ter religioznosti na izraženost strahu pred smrtjo.
