Abstract | This article presents the psychiatric emergency states with emphasis on aggression and aggressive behaviour. Impulse-control model in aggression is a psychological one; by itself it can not predict violence. Mostly, violent behaviour can be attributed to organic causes, psychiatric disorders, various psychosocial stressors, but sometimes its etiology is non-specific. Taking into account some known predictors and known history of aggressive and violent behaviour, sometimes therapeutic measures can be applied on time. Therapeutic approach to a violent patient icludes verbal communication, use of physical restrains and medication. It is always imperative to act according to ethical principles of emergency psychiatry. | |
