Abstract     In Slovenia, suicide is frequently committed by using a "slaughterer's gun". As it is known, the wound created by the slaughterer's gun causes the animal to fall in a state of unconsciousness and soon after, the animal due to slaughtering, bleeds to death. In the case of suicide, the victim usually aims for the head and the consequence is a craniocerebral injury. Lesions caused by this type of weapon is likely to be of a more serious character than it is to be expected from the size of the entrance wound. This wound is primarily contaminated and it is important to explore it tho oughly since foreign bodies are often deeply embedded. Furthermore, it is alsn important to give the patient the suitable antibiotics as soon as possible. Taking into account, the case report of the 17-year-old boy who attempted suicide with such a weapon, we want to point out that general practitioners do come across such injuries in their every day practise. Because the entrance wound is rather small, it can go unnoticed and is rather difficult to diagnose. Such patient has to be properly treated in the spot, and then transported to the nearest hospital where such victims can be taken care of accordingly.
