Abstract     The paper describes the basic elements of paediatric resuscitation in a critical situation. The child's need for oxigen can be adequately met by crrying out the BLS mesures and by considering the specific anatomical and physiological characterists of the child. Since each paediatric resuscitaiton is a higly demanding act that cannot be foressen or planned, the staff must be skilled in BLS, and familiar with the organizational measures to be taken. Promt actionis essential, and the first minutes of resusctiation are an extremely important period in the treatment of a gravely ill child. A questionnaire devised for nurses with the aim to get more information on the resuscitation of children in the ICU is presented, inquiring about their attitudes, knowledge, skills and organization of paediatric resuscitation in the ICU. Concern about the outcome of cardiopulmonary resuscitation has been reported by all respondents.
