Abstract     The thesis consists oftwo parts. The first part is theoretical and presents on the basis of the insepcted literature the burn injury, the knowledge of the surface, depth, and degree of the burn and offering the first aid. It also includes patient education and prevention. The right judgement of all the factors enables the choice of an effective therapy and nursing care, as to the fact that the consequences of the primary judgement effect the later health and quality of life. A qualitative nursing care can be offered best in the system of the primary nursing care, by using two models, of which the first one is the model of "self care" and the second the "the adaptional model". In the patient educational part you have to funciton on the primary, secondary and tertiary level. The second, empirical part shows a research, made among young adults, who suffered a burn injury, in their youth. The research determinates the physical functioning as well as theirpsychological and social state. It has been established that people are satisfied with the quality of their lives after a burn injury, but they have a lower self-image in relationship towards themselves and the physicalappearance and not in relationship towards other people and towards life. According to their opinion, the burn injury does not cause unpleasant feelings among people but this mostly does not effect the behaviour of other people towards them. They are capable to take care of themselves responsibly. They express their mental peace in psychological experience.
