Abstract     Starting-points: There are different opinions on the knowledge of the youth about the sexuality and the information which should be to a great extent obtained primaryly at home and at school. The results of knowledge of he pupils of the final year of compulsory schooling (age cca 15 years) are shown in the article and the characteristics of sexual information obtained untill the finished compulsory schooling. Methods: The reasch was perfomed in 1997. A representative pattern of Slovenian pupils at the age of 15 years (N = 1217) was included into anonymous survey. The questions were asked about the process of sexual information and important informators, basic knowledge concerning contraception, sexual maturing, conception and factors, harmful for fetal development. Statistical significance was ascertained via chi-square test and analysis of variance. Results: Basic knowledge level, necessary for a safe sexuality is low and does not meet our expectations. Only 40% of the surveyed got their first information from parents at the age from 10 to 12 years, the remaining ones even later or not at all. At school they also got the first sexual information (and majority of them) only at the level of lower secondary school. The main source of information for the youth are mass media and always available peers. Health workers did not fulfill their tasks in spite of their role and knowledge. The surveyed pupils want more information from parents and professional personnel in school out-patient departments and consultation offices. Conclusion: The results of the research show that it is necessary to stimulate the relaxed communication with the help of promotion of reproductive health.(Abstract truncated at 2000 characters)
Summary     Izhodišča: Različna so mnenja o znanju, ki ga imajo mladi o spolnosti in o informacijah, ki naj bi jih v veliki meri dobili predvsem doma in v šoli. V tem članku prikazujemo rezultate znanja, ki ga imajo osmošolci, in značilnosti spolnega informiranja, ki poteka v času do konca obveznega šolanja. Metode: Raziskavo smo izvedli leta 1997. V anonimno anketo smo vključili reprezentativni vzorec slovenskih osmošolk in osmošolcev (N-1217). Izpraševali smo o procesu spolnega informiranja in pomembnih informatorjih, osnovnem znanju o kontracepciji, spolnem dozorevanju, spočetju in o škodljivih dejavnikih na razvoj plodu. Statistično pomembnost razlik med spoloma smo ugotavljali s hi2 testom in analizo variance. Rezultate: osnovno znanje anketirancev, potrebno za varno spolnost, je slabo, celo slabše od naših pričakovanj. Komaj 40% anketirancev je dobilo prve spolne informacije od staršev v starosti od 10. do 12. let, ostali pa še kasneje ali sploh ne. Tudi v šoli so dobili prve in večino spolnih informacij šele na predmetni stopnji. Glavni vir informacij mladostnikov so mediji in vrstniki, ki so vedno dosegljivi. Zdravstveni delavci kljub svoji vlogi in znanju niso izpolnili svoje naloge. Anketirani osmošolci si želijo več informacij, predvsem od starŠev in strokovnega osebja v šolskih dispanzerjih in posveovalnicah. Zaključek: Rezultati raziskave kažejo, da je potrebno s projekti krepitve reproduktivnega zdravja spodbuditi sproščeno komunikacijo in s tem pospešili proces spolnega informiranja, dvigniti raven uporabnega znanja in veščin, da se bodo mladi lahko osveščeno odločali za spolno življenje.
