Abstract     Results of the Phase 1 of study on concentration of harmful substances - cadmium, lead, mercury and nitrates - in food of vegetable origin, harvesting in the region of Slovenia, are presented. 355 food samples were taken and analysed, especially the ones quantitatively presenting the biggest share of consumed foodstuffs of this kind. On the base of laboratory examinations results and data on food consumption in a closed collective (Celje Hospital), the intake of harmful substances by food was evaluated. For assessing the intake of harmful substances in this phase of study the authors considered various protective factors to prevent too low an assessment. In the Phase 2 of the study, which is already in progress, the quantities of cadmium, lead, mercury and nitrates consumed by Slovenian population with food will be more precisely defined by additional research.
Summary     Prispevek predstavlja rezultate I. faze študije o vsebnosti škodljivih snovi - kadmij, svinec, živo srebro in nitrati v živilih rastlinskega izvora, ki so bila pridelana na območju Slovenije. Skupno je bilo odvzetih in analiziranih 355 vzorcev živil, zaužitih živil te vrste. Na osnovi rezultatov kemijskih preiskav in podatkov o porabi živil v zaprtem kolektivu (Bolninica Celje) je bila izdelana ocena vnosa škodljivih snovi s hrano. Zaradi pomanjkljivih podatkov so avtorji pri oceni vnosa školjivih snovi v tej fazi študije upoštevali različne dejavnike, da ne bi bila ocena vnosa škodljivih snovi prenizka. V II. fazi študije, ki že poteka, pa bodo z dodatnimi raziskavami natančneje opredelili količine kadmija, svinca, živega sreba in nitratov, ki jih prebivalci Slovenije zaužijo s hrano.
