Abstract     The mountain lakes in the Triglav National Park boast a fauna of plankton shrimps rich in its variety of species and its biomass. The most important plankton species belong to water fleas (Cladocera), the genus of Daphnia, whereas among the copepods in the genera of Arctodiaptomus and Cyclops are among the most numerous. The presence of various plakton shrimp species depends primarily upon the thropic level of the lake. Besides this, the structure of zooplakton associations is greatly affected by fish people have brought into some mountain lakes in the past, a practice which is not uncommon even today.
