Abstract     The purpose of study is to present the extent, the kind and the qualitiy of minor surgical procedures done by general practitioners at Zdravstveni dom Dr. Janeza Oražma in Ribnica in the 1996. The study is retrospective and is founded on data from the book of minor surgical procedures and from the medical records of surgicaly treated patients. The results show, that is minor surgery quite important sphere of action of general practitioners, since they present 3,8% of all visits of patients. The children under school age and pupils represent more then the fourth part of all surgicaly treated patients. More then 50 % of all minor surgical procedures are sewings of lacerations and other wounds. There were ouerlooked fractures of bones in 0,4% and the patients were directet to surgeon later instead at the first visit. Only 1,8% of minor surgical procedures resulted in any complication and only 0,5 % required secondary refferal to hospital regarding on defined indicators. This results are comparable to results in literature. There is also the presentcztion and quczlity assesment of medical records and of prescribtion of antibiotics.
