Abstract     Multi-directional electrochemotherapy is a variation of electrochemotherapy (ECT) in which one set of electric pulses is applied inone direction and another set of pulses in different direction, in the presence of a chemotherapeutic drug. Recent experiments have shown that this treatment yields beter results in fraction of tumor cells killed, and longer growth delay of cells that remain, but the underlying mechanisms are still unknown. In determining a mathematical model with which to predict the results of such a therapy, it has been shown that the mechanism is not a simple matter of permeabilizing the same fraction in two consecutive treatments. This model would predict better resulst than actual experimental results. This would indicate that there is a factor which inhibits the fraction of cells remaining after the first treatment from being permeabilized as easily during the second treatment.
