Abstract		First the paper reveals the historical development of occupational therapy with underlying moral, occupation, mechanistic and dynamic systems paradigms. Further it highlights basic characteristics of self organizing discrete states and dynamic attractors networks as applied in occupational therapy and the difference as compared to linear mechanistic point of view. Finally it explains the importance of dynamic system theory for understanding and generation of new behavior and new relations between therapist's assistance and patient's active engagement.
