Abstract     Researches have shown that healthy nutrition as a whole has a better protective effect on the health of people as have individual isolated factors, such as food with low amounts of fat or food with plenty of fruit vegetables, etc. Especially Mediterranean and Japanese (Chinese) food present a modern model for a healthy nutrition, that maintains, strengthens and prolongs life. Condition for an as good as possible health in old age is the maintaining of normal nutrition state and nutritionally and energetically balanced diet of elderly people.
Summary     Raziskave so pokazale, da ima zdrava prehrana v celoti boljši varovalni učinek za zdravje ljudi kot pa posamezni, izolirani dejavniki, npr. samo malo maščob ali samo hrana z veliko sadja in zelenjave itd. Model zdrave prehrane, ki ohranjuje, krepi in podaljšuje življenje, predstavljata danes predvsem mediteranska in japonska (kitajska) kuhinja. Pogoj za čimboljše zdravje v sterejšem obdobju je vzdrževanje normalne prehranjenosti in hranilno in energijsko uravnotežena prehrana starejšega človeka.
