Abstract		In this study the records of electrophysiological answers by FES of nerves in lower extremities in 10 chronic patients with hemiparesis after stroke and paraparesis or paraplegia after traumatic lesion of spinal cord are analysed. Efferent stimulation evoking direct responses (M-waves) in muscles belonging to stimulated axons in nerve trunk is confirmed. Afferent stimulation with appearance of other electrophysiological events (flexor relfex activity and evoked waves with longer latencies than M-waves) in several nonstimulated muscles is proved. These findings together with some long-term effects of FES give evidence of data processing in central nervous system produced by the use of FES.
