Abstract     Respiratory diseases are on the first place as a reason for a visit of general practitioner. Inflammation of nasal mucous is a very common symptom. Only on the base of clinical findings it is very difficult to say for a physician is a person seafaring of allergy or acute infection. With a research on 86 patients the author wanted to find out how are the symptoms of allergic rhinitis connected to the positive nasal smear on eosinophils and is it a flutikazon nasal spray useful for a treatment of such patients. Patients who have positive nasal smear, by May - Gnunwald - Giemsa, have statistical more often symptoms as: sneezing (p 0.0248), redness of eyes (p 0.006), rhinorrhea (p 0.0458) and higher number of eosinophils in peripheral blood (p 0.0591). Symptoms as nasal obstruction (p 0.1347), tearing of eyes (p 0.1642) and itching of pharynx (p 0.0591) are present also in a group with negative nasal smear. Number of leukocytes in peripheral blood is not important (p 0.1252). Patient with positive nasal smear were successfully treated with flutikazon nasal spray. The cost of such treatment was reasonable.
