Abstract		The paper presents the actual issues relating to storage and use of medicines that are kept at the patient's home. The storage of medicines is discussed in terms of the stability of medical products and the patients' attitude towards them. medicines kept at home present both benefit and risk to the patient. The ratio of the two depends upon the level of patient's awareness about the efficacy of medicines and his/her ability and willingness to comply with the instructions given by the physician and/or the pharmacist. The responsibility to establish the adequate levelof thislies on the individual as well as on all health professions and is highest with the physician and the pharmacist. The role of the domestic depository of medicines is closely connected to the concept of self-medication and non-presciption medicine, which have been receiving greater attention in many developed health systems.
