Abstract		Progress in medicine is changing our views on causes of dementia, its classification and treatment. Treatment of patients with dementia includes etiological and symptomatic treatment of cognitive deficits and behavioural disorders. Psychosocial interventions, stimulation of intellectual activities and preservation of activities of daily living are also an important part of treatment.
