Abstract     In the past questions related to menopause were not so problematic because women died young. In the beginning of this century not so many women experienced menopause while today it happens to almost 95% of women. In the century that is coming to an end the life-time has dramatically prolonged, a rising number of older people represents also a great concern and cost to many societies. A number of operating procedures of elderly people is increasing - often because of disturbed genital static with or without urinary incontinence. Urinary tract infections are also common. Quite serious health problem of elderly and old women represents osteoporosis with all possible complications, cardiovascular diseases and also senile dementia. We cannot influence on the process of ageing, but what we can do in time is amelioration of quality of life and so prevent many later complications. Life style, nutrition, digestion, body activity - all is very essential. Many age-related problems are connected with the estrogen deficit, this can be prevented or at least diminished with estrogen replacement therapy,1999 is the United Nations declared International Year of Older Persons.
