Abstract		In the introduction the author presents cardiovascular diseases and the significance of surgical treatment of cardiac patients. She further discusses the original causes of cardiovascular diseases, the diagnostic methods, for their detection and confirmation, the classification of patients into functional classes according to the NYHA (New York Heart Association) and the possibilities of treating cardiac diseases. She stresses the significance of early physiotherapeutic management of cardiac patients, of physiotherapeutic procedures and individual management as well as the obstacles hindering the introduction of physical therapy.
