Abstract     Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection in adults is rare and is usually consequence of reinfection. Nosocomial RSV transmission has been reported frequently on departments for haematology, oncology, intensive care units and in an old people's home. Visitors and medical staff play an important role in propagation of infection. RSV nosocomial infection may be reduced by strict contact-isolation techniques, with visit restriction and proper hospital hygiene.
